RE – CONTRACT FOR REFURBISHMENT OF MERRIMA COURT

I have been asked to provide a reference in relation to the contract of work let to TMG Construction for the refurbishment of a 21 unit block “Merrima Court” situated at Cnr. Warne Terrace and Merrima Avenue Caloundra.

In my dealing with the Principals of the Company, I found them to be extremely professional in the administration of the Company; this is a must when dealing with an old building, when all problems do not surface until the work is in progress.

When this in fact did occur the Body Corporate was advised immediately of any variation to the contract, along with suggestion to remedy the problem. If additional work not provided for in the original contract was required, a costing was provided quickly. This allowed the work to flow with a variation to both the original tender price and completion date of the job.

On one occasion a variation of work required an amendment to Council Approved plans, this required the Company to lodge an application for variation and the matter was resolved quickly to allow the work to proceed.

The selection of sub-contractors is the difficult part which makes or breaks any building job. This is an area where I have had plenty of experience, there are many reasons why some of these people fail, but I am happy to report only one such incident happened and the final outcome was very satisfactory.

On the whole the sub-contractors were mostly long term contractors employed by the company, they were excellent tradespersons providing outstanding results.

The body corporate has no hesitation recommending TMG Constructions for any building work, be it new construction or renovation to existing buildings. The companies principals are friendly, competent and successful business operators who employ excellent tradespersons in what is a very competitive industry.
